InSinkErator H770-SS Invite Instant Hot Water Dispenser Product Description
The InSinkErator H770-SS Invite name is a nice introductory unit into instant hot water dispensers for under the sink. It features adjustable temperature and includes a 2/3 stainless steel tank for under the sink. Many buyers report fairly easy 30 minute installation.
When you twist the handle on your hot water dispenser, water comes up from the supply line. From there it travels from the system to our under the sink tank, where it’s heated to 200° F. As the water is used, it is replaced with more water. With the fast-recovery system, it can deliver up to 60 cups of near-boiling water an hour. You can even adjust the temperature to your liking, right on the hot water tank.
The Invite H770-SS is backed by an exclusive 3-year We Come to You In-Home Service Warranty. If you ever have a problem with your instant hot water dispenser system, an InSinkErator authorized service agent will come to your home and fix or replace it, at no charge to you.
What’s To Like About The InSinkErator H770-SS Invite Instant Hot Water Dispenser
- includes a water tank so no separate tank purchase needed
- adjustable temperature
- convenience of instant hot water is something you will find you do not want to live without once you have it
- reported to be relatively easy to install
- InSinkErator tends to be on the pricier side, but you get the well reputed come-to-your-house warranty. And InSinkErator customer support often gets very good reviews.
- quality and function pretty good for the price point (though durability is mixed)
Be aware of …
- reportedly does not work well with homes that have hard water.
- many customers say their units last between 2 and 5 years which is a bit on the shorter side for durability, especially for the InSinkErator brand. Fortunately the warranty is very good: before the warranty ends make sure to inspect your unit for any type of crack and get it replaced.
- hissing and spitting issue at times
Of all the InSinkErator brands, this one tends to not last as long with a reputed life span of between 2 and 5 years. It is also of note that the InSinkErator H770-SS Invite is on the lower price range and includes a tank as well. Consider this model a great “starter” or “intro” model to see if you really like instant hot water. Then in three to five years you can continue with this model or upgrade to a new model. This comes out to between $5 and $10 a month for hot water. Just remember to check for cracks and leaks often.
What Buyers Are Saying
“Just installed this in my son’s new home. It was to replace an existing unit that was apparently broken. I have now installed or replaced about a dozen of these for friends and relatives. The new units have stainless steel tanks and do not rust out like the old ones. For this reason we’re hopeful that they’ll last longer…..we’ll see. But even after having one fail…we still see the convenience and value of having one. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t use it several times…(READ MORE)”
“I bought this to replace an older H770-10 which had started leaking after some number of years. At the faucet level this model looks almost identical to my old one, and the specs are very similar although 200 degrees instead of 190. The tank is a lot different looking, the new one uses a plastic case (although the tank is itself stainless steel). Operationally it’s fine, but of course brand new. As for life expectancy, which many folks complain about — I went into this assuming I will replace this every three years when the in-home warranty runs out, and I’ve decided I’m okay with the amortized $5/month cost…(READ MORE)”
“I installed our first Insinkerator hot water dispenser in the early 1980′s – it lasted almost 20 years before the tank developed a small leak. We used it constantly for tea, coffee, hot chocolate for the kids – you name it. I replaced it, and the second one is still going strong and getting used many times each day. . Very dependable, adjustable temp settings, and it’ll heat water just as fast as you can use it. The install is easy – most difficult part is getting the mounting hole in a stainless sink. Once that’s done, the rest is a 30-minute job. My wife and I wouldn’t be without one… (READ MORE)”
