Be wary of:
- The plastic parts do not feel durable. In fact the plastic handle is said to break often (but this is easily replaced by a call to InSinkErator)
- Durability wise, this InSinkErator model is cheaper than its siblings and the quality is appropriately less than the other InSinkErator models. That being said, there are mixed reviews on the durability and generally speaking you WILL get a little bit more than what you pay for when it comes to the HOT-1.
- Unit may spit a little bit upon installation
The InSinkErator engineering is good to great depending on which model you get. With the cheaper model you still get good design. The durability is not as great, but backed by a great company you can get parts replaced fairly easily.
If you are in the market for an inexpensive instant hot water dispenser WITH tank, or you are interested in trying instant hot water out without spending upwards of $500 or $600, this is a great introductory model and/or inexpensive model to add to your kitchen.

“Our builder installed one of these in our new home 11 years ago. The unit failed after 3-4 years. I replaced it with the same model, for the simple reason that it made installation very easy (I knew that the supply line would be the right length and the sink hole would be the right diameter).
