To keep your hot water at the ready, the unit features a micro-computerized temperature-control system and multiple keep-warm temperature settings that include 175, 195, and 208 degrees. This means it reboils your water as needed at one of the three preset temperatures you want.
The appliance features a micro-computerized temperature-control system, and its control panel displays the actual water temperature at all times. Other highlights include a convenient timer function that can be set from 6 to 10 hours, an easy-to-read water-level gauge, a 3-foot power cord, automatic safety shut-off, and an audible beep indicator to alert to the completion of the boiling process or a low water level. Things You Might Want To Consider
- Temperature change between the three presets may not be as quick as you’d like
- Inside is not stainless, it’s plastic which may disappoint you if you didn’t know.
- As with all instant hot water dispensers, descaling can be a chore.
- While the magnetic power plug is a good feature on most Zojirushi brands, because this features stainless steel/metal cover, it may be hard to “blindly” plug it in.
- For a counter top hot water dispenser, this one is pricier – what you buy is the vacuum insulation and stainless steel exterior. May or may not be worth it depending on your tastes
- It’s an electronic dispenser: it needs to be plugged in to dispense water which limits its flexibility.
Overall: if you are looking for functionality, durability, and convenience, Zojirushi is a great manufacturer for countertop hot water dispensers. As far as the Zojirushi CV-DSC40 , you’re paying the higher price for the vacuum insulation (for energy efficiency) and the stainless steel outside.

“If you just want to plug something in and then get immediate hot water at the touch of a button, then this product does everything you would probably want it to do and does it well, while looking good. “I have to admit that all main features are great and very convenient – it keeps water at set temperature and boil it at set time. The thermos feature appear to be useless since after couple hours temperature of water – still hot – drops to the point when you can’t make tea or noodles, and need to reboil. Another disappointment was inability to dispense water away from power outlet. All in all, this unit has very nice modern design, a lot of convenience and safety features.
